WICKER AND REED

Wicker and Reed is a faith-based Crisis Pregnancy and Adoption Services agency that provides care, guidance and resources to mothers carrying their pregnancy to full term. In the case of a choice to make a plan for adoption, Wicker and Reed will provide high-quality services to ensure the process is transparent and attends the needs of both child and mother. The goal of a placement is that each child placed will be raised by a permanent, loving and caretaking family. Working in partnership with resources held to high-standards, Wicker and Reed provides an approachable adoption process making it accessible to families while supporting the child and mother through a myriad of prenatal and post-adoption care.

BAGS OF HOPE

We first heard of children traveling through foster care with their belongings in trash bags, while in adoption classes.  It was a moment that we won’t forget.  When children are removed from their biological homes, it is often in a stressful situation. The social worker grabs a trash bag and fills it with the child’s most beloved items and some clothes.  Many times this trash bag travels from home to home with a child.  Children in foster care will often talk about how the sound of a trash bag reminds them of moving.  This broke our hearts!  In 2011 we asked our church and family to help us begin monogramming duffle bags and filling each bag with comfort items.
